தென்னாப்பிரிக்க அணியின் மூத்த வீரரான ஹாஷிம் ஆம்லா திடீரென நேற்று சர்வதேச கிரிக்கெட்டிலிருந்து ஓய்வு அறிவித்தார்.
2004ம் ஆண்டு தென்னாப்பிரிக்க டெஸ்ட் அணியில் அறிமுகமான ஆம்லா, 2008ம் ஆண்டில் ஒருநாள் அணியிலும் சேர்க்கப்பட்டார். தென்னாப்பிரிக்க அணிக்காக 124 டெஸ்ட் போட்டிகளில் ஆடி 9282 ரன்களையும் 181 ஒருநாள் போட்டிகளில் ஆடி 8113 ரன்களையும் குவித்துள்ளார்.
எப்பேர்ப்பட்ட கடினமான கண்டிஷன்களிலும் இக்கட்டான சூழல்களிலும் பொறுமையாக நிலைத்து ஆடி ரன்களை குவிக்கும் வல்லமை பெற்றவர் ஆம்லா. தென்னாப்பிரிக்க அணிக்காக 15 ஆண்டுகள் ஆடியுள்ளார். நடந்து முடிந்த உலக கோப்பை தொடர் ஆம்லாவிற்கும் தென்னாப்பிரிக்காவுக்கும் சரியாக அமையவில்லை.
தென்னாப்பிரிக்க அணி அடுத்த மாதம் இந்தியாவுக்கு சுற்றுப்பயணம் செய்யவுள்ளது. இந்நிலையில், திடீரென சர்வதேச கிரிக்கெட்டிலிருந்து ஓய்வு பெற்றுள்ளார் ஆம்லா. தென்னாப்பிரிக்க கிரிக்கெட்டின் ஆல்டைம் சிறந்த வீரர்களில் ஒருவர் ஆம்லா. ஆம்லாவின் ஓய்வை அடுத்து பல முன்னாள், இந்நாள் வீரர்கள் அவரை வாழ்த்தியும் அவரது சாதனைகளையும் திறமையையும் புகழ்ந்தும் டுவீட் செய்துவருகின்றனர்.
